Meals on Wheels of Solano County has been serving meals at Congregate Dining Sites in Benicia, Dixon, Fairfield, Rio Vista, Suisun, Vacaville and Vallejo since 2001. Our registered dieti tian plans all of the menus. All meals are low fat, low sodium, low sugar and diabetics may receive a different dessert. All meals are prepared at our central kitchen in Suisun City, California and delivered to the congregate dining sites daily.

Program

• Congregate Dining is sharing a meal and socializing with other seniors in the surrounding communities.
• Providing and serving nutritious (1/3 Dietary Reference Intake) dietitian approved lunch is served from 11:30 am – 12:00 pm Monday through Friday for active seniors at our congregate dining sites.
• No meal service provided on seasonal holidays.
• Receive a monthly menu and information on other social service programs.
• Receive nutritional and preventive health information.
• Meals on Wheels of Solano County is partially funded through Area Agency on Aging under Title III of the the Older American Act. Approximtely 65% of our annual operating budget is provided through grants from the Area Agency on Aging. The other 35% of our funding that makes up our annual operating budget is raised through community donations, fundraising events, and other grants to cover the full cost of the meals services programs that we provide to our senior clients.
• We do not charge for our services. Our suggested donation is $3.00 per meal or $15.00 per week.

Eligibility

• Any Senior's, age 60 years and older, are welcome to join us for a nutritious mid day meal at our congregate dining sites located in each of the seven cities in Solano County.
• Any disabled person who resides at home with and accompanies a senior 60 years of age and older, is eligible to join us for a nutritious mid day meal at our congregate dining sites located in Solano County.

Advanced Reservations Required

Lunch Reservations are required a day in advance by calling Meals on Wheels of Solano County 707 426-3079 between 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. You may also make advance reservations with the Site Host located at each Congregate Dining Site.

Application Process

You will need to complete an application at one of our dining sites to participate in the Congregate Meal Service Program.
