CLIENT MEAL CONTRIBUTIONS

WHAT IS THE COST?

Meals on Wheels of Solano County delivers over 600 meals every day to seniors in need. It costs approximately $7.00 to prepare and deliver food to recipients of the program. For clients aged 60 and older, Meals on Wheels of Solano County qualifies for partial reimbursement from the federal government under the Older Americans Act.

Funds are received under contract from the Napa/Solano Area Agency on Aging - however, it is only a partial reimbursement and Meals on Wheels of Solano County must raise additional funds to cover the gap.

 

WHAT ARE CONTRIBUTIONS?

Participating in Meals on Wheels of Solano County's services are cost-free to elligible seniors. While clients may be asked to contribute voluntarily toward the cost of their meal, no client will be denied a meal because of their inability to pay.

It is suggested that each client provide contribution of $4.00 per meal - this can also be viewed as $20.00 per week, or $80.00 per month. If the client cannot afford to contribute the suggested amount, clients are asked to consider what they are able to afford based on income and ability to pay.

 

HOW CAN I MAKE MY CONTRIBUTIONS?

Each month, a home-delivery recipient will recieve a self-addressed envelope where they can submit their contributions via mail. If a client would like to make a contribution online, they can do so here.

Contribution boxes are located at all of our congregate dining sites for congregate dining recipients to make their contributions.

Please note that each client's contribution is voluntary and confidential. Seniors will not be denied a meal based on ability or inability to contribute. However, the more funds raised, the more seniors in need can participate in our services.
