Laurie Hartmann - Executive Director
Working for Meals on Wheels brings full circle three voiceless groups that I’ve had a passion for most of my life: children, animals, and older adults. I’ve worked for non-profit organizations supporting abused and neglected children, fostered (and foster-failed) rescue animals, and now ending my career supporting seniors.
I love the client-centered approach we take and the team effort in all we do. There’s never a dull moment and always an impact on those who need our help.
When I’m not busy working in the communities I love, I take care of four dogs (who all sleep on the bed), four horses (who do not), and a turtle named Toula (who thrives on attention).

A fun fact about me is that I make/write movies! Before Meals on Wheels, I actually worked in Locations Management for various Paramount and Netflix shows, movies, and commercials. No, I don’t have a favorite movie!

I work for Meals on Wheels because I’m passionate about helping people, especially those that have shaped this community and can no longer care for themselves.
My favorite part of my job is being able to make meaningful connections with seniors who might feel lonely or isolated. I really enjoy showing them that we care.
Here’s a fun fact about me: I had lived in three different states and three different countries all by the age of 17!

I work for Meals on Wheels because the older adults within our communities are some of the most vulnerable among us and need the help and resources of the community. The number one reason I work for Meals on Wheels is that older adults are most often a forgotten demographic within the community, and it is going to take younger generations to step up and help this community thrive and lead productive and meaningful lives into their aging years. Let us not forget that we will not be young forever and one day will be in their shoes! I can only hope that I have the help and resources of the community at that point in my life.
My favorite part of my job is that I wake up every day and help others who may not be able to get food get the food and help they need.
Fun fact about me: I am originally from a very small town in Indiana and my graduating class consisted of 62 people.

I work for Meals on Wheels because I want to make a positive impact on elderly people’s lives. Making sure we deliver them healthy food every day and checking in on their well-being makes that impact and shows that they matter.
As the Delivery Coordinator, I am most excited to work with our Nutrition Services team to ensure our clients receive their meals with care, consistency, and a friendly connection.
Fun fact: I walked on the Great Wall of China when I was a kid!

Shannon Lovelace-White - Volunteer Coordinator
Before joining Meals on Wheels, I worked at another organization serving older adults. In that role, I regularly heard clients describe the impact Meals on Wheels had on their lives. They spoke not only about the security of having reliable meals, but also about the kindness, companionship, and genuine care they experienced through volunteers and staff. Hearing those stories inspired me to join an organization that makes such a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
I’m continually inspired by the generosity and compassion of volunteers. They freely give their time and energy to help ensure that someone else experiences comfort, security, and connection. It takes a special kind of person to care so deeply about the well-being of someone they’ve never met or hardly know, and I’m grateful to work alongside people who embody that spirit every day.
A fun fact about me is that I studied abroad in Beijing during college and later returned to teach kindergarten in Chengdu, China. Those experiences broadened my perspective, deepened my appreciation for other cultures, and gave me lifelong memories I’ll always treasure.

Caring for older adults has always been close to my heart. I grew up helping and advocating for my grandparents, who are deaf, and often interpreted for them and helped them navigate everyday life. Especially as they got older and needed more assistance. That experience showed me how important support, connection, and independence are as we age. I love the mission that Meals on Wheels stands for, and I’m proud to now be able to provide that same kind of support to others in my community.
I love knowing that the Fall Prevention Program helps older adults stay safe, independent, and confident in their own homes. It’s rewarding to coordinate services and resources that can make a real difference in someone’s quality of life.
A fun fact about me is that I’m a huge animal lover! I’ve spent many years working with animals and have a house full of pets; some are my personal pets, and others are fosters. I hope one day to have my own rescue for animals.

I have always believed the smallest gestures can make the biggest difference, and being a part of a team that turns everyday moments into acts of kindness is why I work for Meals on Wheels. We are not only ensuring seniors have meals, but also that they have connection, dignity, and a weekly reminder that they matter.
My favorite part of my job is hearing my clients’ life stories and truly getting to know them. I’m constantly learning from their experiences, and it’s such a privilege to connect with them on a personal level while also helping them in their current situation.
A fun fact about myself is that I love dogs and hope to open my own in-home dog rescue one day. I fostered a few dogs during the COVID-19 pandemic and have two of my own. I also love baking and hosting fun gatherings for my family and friends.

I work for Meals on Wheels because I’ve always been close to my grandparents and know how much care and support seniors need. I’m passionate about addressing food insecurities and injustices and I love being part of an organization that helps make sure everyone has access to healthy, nourishing meals.
I’m excited to work here because it gives the chance to directly support seniors in my community while promoting health and food equity. It feels incredibly rewarding to know my work helps create a positive impact every single day.
A fun fact about me: I love to travel! Over the past three years, I’ve visited 5 countries, including Germany, Czech Republic and Poland this past summer. Every trip has given me a deeper appreciation for diverse cultures (and their delicious cuisines of course!).
